Every Sage qualification in aged care, disability, childcare and community services includes mandatory vocational placement. It is where the theory becomes a job — and where most of our graduates meet their first employer.
We organise it, not you
Unlike many providers, Sage arranges your placement. We have long-standing relationships with aged care facilities, disability providers, early learning centres and community organisations across South East Queensland. You tell us your location and availability; we match you.
How many hours?
- Certificate III in Individual Support — 120 hours minimum
- Certificate IV in Ageing Support / Disability — 120 hours
- Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care — 160 hours
- Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care — 280 hours
- Diploma of Community Services — 200 hours
When does it happen?
Placement usually begins around the mid-point of your course, once you have completed the foundation units. Shifts follow the workplace roster and may include early starts or weekends — we plan around your commitments where we can.
What you need first
- Blue Card (working with children) for childcare and some community roles
- NDIS Worker Screening clearance for disability roles
- Current vaccinations as required by the host (flu and COVID-19 for aged care)
- First aid / CPR certificate for childcare
Support during placement
A Sage trainer visits or calls during your placement, and your host supervisor completes a workplace report. If a placement is not working, tell us — we will move you.
