If you have worked in care, studied before, or hold overseas qualifications, you may not need to complete every unit. Two pathways can shorten your course.
Credit transfer
If you have already completed a nationally recognised unit — at Sage or any other Australian RTO — we credit it directly. Bring your certificate or transcript and we match the unit codes. Older codes that have been superseded are usually mapped to the current equivalent.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL recognises skills you have gained through work or life experience, even without formal study. You provide evidence — such as position descriptions, supervisor references, work samples or a practical demonstration — and an assessor judges it against the unit requirements.
What it costs
Credit transfer is free. RPL is charged per unit at a reduced rate, and subsidised students pay only the standard co-contribution. Nothing is charged until we have confirmed RPL is likely to succeed.
How to apply
- Tell your course adviser at enquiry that you want RPL or credit considered
- Send your transcripts, resume and any workplace evidence
- An assessor reviews it and calls you within five business days
- You receive a written outcome and a shortened training plan
