Is online right for you?
It works best if…
- You work shifts, or study around family
- You live too far from a Sage centre
- You’re comfortable using a computer or phone for study
- You can set aside regular time each week
- You want a real trainer to call when you need one
Before you enrol, our team talks through your goals, work history, tech set-up and placement plans — so you start on the right course, the right way.
Placement & hands-on units

- Vocational placement at a real workplace near where you live — Sage arranges it

Frequently asked
Studying online at Sage.
When are the live classes?
We run day and evening live classes depending on your course. Your full timetable is shared at the time of enrolment, so you can plan around work and family before you start.
Is online study self-paced?
Partly. You work through your units in the portal at your own pace, and join live classes with your trainer. You need to stay actively engaged each week — extended inactivity can put your enrolment at risk under the Student Handbook.
Can I talk to my trainer one-on-one?
Yes. One-on-one sessions with your trainer and our student support team are available at no extra cost — by video, phone or message.
How does placement work if I study online?
Your vocational placement is in person, at a real workplace near where you live. Sage arranges it for you — you don’t have to find your own.
Are there any face-to-face parts?
Some units have a hands-on component. For aged care and disability courses, manual handling is completed face-to-face at your nearest Sage centre. Childcare courses need First Aid (HLTAID012) — complete it with Sage or any approved provider.
Can I study aged care or disability online?
Yes, if you’re eligible. Online suits people who can’t get to a centre because of work, family or location. We’ll talk through your work history, tech set-up and placement plans before you enrol.
What do I need to get started?
A phone, laptop or tablet with a reliable internet connection, and an email address. If you’re unsure about your set-up, our team will walk you through it.
Is there a cooling-off period?
Yes — 14 days. Withdraw within 14 days and you receive a full refund.
