As of 2021, Australian students have opted against the university experience in favour of a more hands-on approach that vocational qualifications can provide.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, over 11 million people reported having a vocational/tertiary qualification, translating to a 19.8% increase since 2016.
Practicality is rapidly becoming an invaluable prerequisite for students who are embarking on the next stages of higher education. At Sage Education, practicality is our speciality.
Vocational education and training (VET)
By studying with registered training organisations (RTOs) like Sage Education, you can expect to refine specific skills that will support your success, especially if you are entering the workforce for the first time.
The VET courses that we provide will strengthen the practical skills and knowledge you need to support current qualifications, start a new career or even return to the workforce.
VET qualifications
If you are unfamiliar with what counts as VET qualifications, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered.
Differing from academic education, the vocational training behind a VET qualification can last anywhere between two months to two years, making it perfect for those who have tight schedules.
Additionally, you must know what counts as a VET qualification. A VET qualification can be:
– A certificate I, II, III and IV.
– A diploma.
– An advanced diploma.
– A vocational graduate diploma and certificate.

Our vocational courses and qualifications
If you’re driven by a love for care work and an eagerness to learn, you are in the right place.
Whether your heart is set on caring for the most vulnerable people in our society or nurturing the development of the next generation, we have a wide range of thoughtfully organised courses.
To help you decide on the right course for you, we have compiled a list of our esteemed courses below.
1. Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing or Disability)
This course is perfect if you wish to become an aged care or disability support worker.
Our Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing or Disability) courses are the equivalent of an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 3, meaning that this course is designed to test your skills in a range of varied contexts.
However, before we put your skills to the test with 120 hours of vocational placement, you must demonstrate your knowledge of our 15 modules.
We cover everything from providing individualised support to recognising healthy body systems within this course; when it comes to supporting a budding career within a highly rewarding sector, we are here to help!
2. Certificate IV in Ageing Support
Our Certificate IV in Ageing Support is more than a masterclass in caring for both residential clients and clients that utilise aged care facilities.
This course, being the equivalent of an AQF Level 4, will teach you how to elevate your advanced skills to encompass the encouragement and empowerment of the older individuals within our community.
After the completion of our 18-unit course, we will organise your vocational placement within the 5-7 months that it takes to finish the course.
It is worthy of note that if you’re already employed in the aged care sector, you may not need to complete the vocational placement.
Don’t worry if you aren’t employed in the appropriate industry – we will organise your vocational placement for you!
3. Certificate IV in Disability
Certificate IV in Disability will open the door to supervisory and management positions within the disability sector.
By emulating our expertise, you will not only learn how to provide individualised support to a diverse range of individuals with varying disabilities, but you will have the skills to lead a team of support workers.
Within the 4-6 month duration of our 14-unit course, we will organise vocational placement for you if you have not already secured a role within the disability sector.
However, if you’re already employed in the relevant industry, we may be able to use your current/previous work hours as placement hours.
4. Diploma of Community Services
When you’re ready to take it to the next level, we are by your side to adapt our syllabus with you.
With our Diploma of Community Services (AQF Level 5), you will be working alongside our children, our elderly and people with disabilities.
Our self-paced online course is comprised of 16 modules, tailored for those who wish to perfect their skills as an aged care worker and is ideal for those looking for a career change within the care sector.
Although you are required to complete 100 hours of vocational placement, we can organise your placement if you don’t already have a job in the appropriate industry.
5. Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
Attaining a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care means that you have the fundamental experience to work in family/long day care, kindergartens, and school-aged care services.
After completing our 17-unit module and the mandatory 160 hours of vocational placement (which we will arrange for you), the knowledge that our supportive team of educators will offer you can open the door for a range of roles in the childcare sector.
Regardless of whether you envision yourself as a nanny or a recreation assistant, our AQF Level 3 qualification is designed with your success at the core of its structure.
6. Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
Our Diploma in Early Childhood Educate and Care (AQF Level 5) covers early childhood educators whose duties are to design and implement curriculums in early childcare services across a 15-unit course.
With this course, we will guide you towards your goal of implementing an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard.
As is usual with the vocational placement of our diploma applicants, we will arrange 280 hours of vocational placement if you don’t already have a role in the childcare industry.
