Course Description

The Certificate IV in Ageing Support enables you to empower and encourage seniors and older individuals in the community, to live more productive and satisfying lives associated with positive ageing. The valuable skills and knowledge you will obtain from this course, will enhance your career in caring for clients in their own homes or in aged care facilities. This qualification is ideal for existing workers in the aged care industry who are looking at upskilling.

Entry Requirements:

There are no entry requirements for this course; however, it is recommended that learners:

  • are at least 18 Years old
  • have sound language and literacy skills
  • must be employed in a regulated aged, disability or community centre
  • must be able to obtain a federal police check

Duration:

The duration of the course will depend on your unique situation. The typical duration is 5-7 months.

You will have a total of 12 months to complete the course from the date of commencement.

You must be employed as a support worker at the time of commencing your course.

Fee Structure:

Queensland Government Subsidised Students:

All Queensland government subsidised students are required to pay a co-contribution fee. Our co-contribution fees are as following:

Concessional Fee (if you’re getting centrelink benefits)

$15 per unit of competency. Total of $270 for 18 units.

Non-concessional Fee

$20 per unit of competency. Total of $360 for 18 units.

No payment for credit transfers.

Fee Paying Applicants:

$2700 ($150 per Unit)

$160 (Admin fee – Non-refundable once course starts)

Can I get a government subsidy?

Yes, you can. We currently deliver this course under the Higher Level Skills Program funded by the Queensland government.

To be eligible, you must be employed in the industry and you must have a Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent course.

Who will organise my vocational placement?

If you’re not employed in the relevant industry, we will organise your vocational placement. However, if you’re already employed in the relevant industry then you may not need to complete the vocational placement. We will assess your circumstances at the time of enrolment.

Do you guarantee a job?

No, we do not guarantee a job. However, there is a huge demand for workers in this industry and it is likely that you will secure employment.

How long does it take to complete this course?

The total duration of this course is 16 weeks. However, the duration may change based on your employment status.
